Swiftly
When Isabel stood up, the first thing she noticed was that the quarto was no longer in the room and neither was the Anglia Nostra booklet. She crossed the room swiftly and went out onto the balcony.

Threaten

Affair

Alibi

‘Exactly!’ said Isabel with a knowing look on her face, ‘an alibo’. A pause.
‘Oh, you mean an alibi!’ said Philip at last.
