The word clothes is a collective noun and always used with the "s" so we cannot say one clothe neither can we say two clothes. If we want to refer to clothes as a countable noun, we can say an article (articles) of clothing or a garment, garments. The verb to wear refers to the clothes we have on: "What is she wearing?". We do not use this verb only for clothes: "he is wearing a blue jacket" but also for other accessories we put on our bodies: wear a watch, wear jewellery, wear glasses, etc. To talk about the action of dressing we use the phrasal verbs: to put on a skirt and to take off my shirt. The verb we use to describe the general action of putting on all your clothes is to dress: "I got up then I got dressed". We can also say: "He got dressed in his best clothes" and "She always dresses her best", which means she always puts on her best clothes. But we cannot say "I dressed my new jacket".
